Social Networks Save the Day: Twitter Found a Stolen Dog, and Facebook Got a Girl a New Tuba

Social networks, is there anything they can't do? Check out these two recent examples . . .
Twitter SAVES DOGS: 75-year-old Philomena Hynes had her pet spaniel, Ted, stolen on December 8th. Police tweeted about the stolen dog, and people re-tweeted it more than 53,000 times. The thieves realized someone was going to spot the dog if they held onto it, so they actually returned it to Philomena four days later. (Check out a photo of Ted the spaniel, here.)

And Facebook can GIVE the GIFT of MUSIC: Tara Fayazi is a junior at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. She's always wanted her own tuba, but they cost $13,000. So she borrowed one from the school. (Her age wasn't given.) For the last 11 months, her friends have gotten donations on Facebook, and last Monday night, they presented her with her OWN tuba. (Here's a photo of Tara and her tuba.)
