Four Exceptions to Not Having Sex on the First Date

1/11/2013

If there was ever a rule made to be broken, it has to be this: NO SEX ON THE FIRST DATE.  Some of you filthy people don't follow it anyway, but even people who ARE serious about it look for an excuse to break it.  Here are four good ones . . .

#1.)  You've already been friends for a long time.  If you're starting a new relationship with someone you know really well, most of the risks of having sex too early aren't there.   If you both know what you want from the relationship, you'll have fewer surprises by getting the physical stuff out of the way, and that built-up sexual tension has already served its purpose.

#2.)  You find it hard to open up emotionally.  You have to bond one way or another.  If the thought of emotional intimacy makes you too anxious, have a little fun instead.  Save the heavy stuff for later, when you have more to talk about.

#3.)  You're getting over an ex.  If you're just coming off something serious, the worst thing you can do is jump into something serious.  Casual sex can actually PROTECT you here, because it keeps you in the moment.

#4.)  You're on vacation.  First-date sex works GREAT on vacation, because no one has expectations.  It's a great way to relax, and you might create some fun memories.  The most important thing overall is, before you BREAK the rule, you should know the reason WHY.  Then be responsible, respectful, and don't feel guilty.
