Steve Jobs Had a Secret Yacht
10/29/2012
STEVE JOBS wore turtlenecks, non-designer jeans, and had a reputation for living pretty modestly for someone who had BILLIONS. But secretly, he was throwing around PLENTY of money before he died.
Turns out he was secretly having a MASSIVE YACHT built in the Netherlands. And he designed it himself. The yacht's name is Venus, and it has a very "Apple" look: it's shiny and white, with sleek lines and serious attention to detail.
It wasn't finished before Jobs died last year, but the shipmakers kept going, and now they've finally finished Venus.
It ended up being about 260 feet long, it's made entirely out of aluminum and chrome, which makes it lighter and faster than a typical yacht. It has a huge sun deck with a Jacuzzi, and all of its navigation and controls are done on iMacs.
There's no word on how much he spent on it, but the designers say he'd been working on it for SIX YEARS. We'd assume now that it's done his wife will inherit it.
