American Apparel is Blasted For Running a "Hurricane Sandy Sale"

10/31/2012

Every time something BAD goes down, some company gets the genius idea to try to capitalize on it.

And while this isn't as bad as last year, when Kenneth Cole said the Egypt riots were caused by people hearing about their amazing new spring collection, it's still a very bad idea in very bad taste.

As Superstorm Sandy was flooding the East Coast, American Apparel sent out an email advertising a special, quote, "Sandy Sale" for people in the nine states in Sandy's path.

It said, "In case you're bored during the storm:  20% off everything for [the] next 36 hours, just enter 'SANDYSALE' at checkout."

They ended up getting BLASTED immediately by tons of people on Twitter, although it doesn't look like they've apologized.
