Carrie Underwood Will Star in a TV Remake of "The Sound of Music"
NBC is doing a TV remake of "The Sound of Music", with CARRIE UNDERWOOD starring as the nun-turned-nanny, Maria. Of course, that's the role that JULIE ANDREWS played in the 1965 movie version.
It will be a three-hour special, which will air LIVE sometime late NEXT year. And technically, it will be based on the original Broadway version, not the movie.
There are no other details at this point. Carrie performed the title theme song during CBS' "Movies Rock" special in 2007. You can see the video from YouTube here.
