Sunday, October 21 is the day to celebrate all things pumpkin, when downtown Sparks kicks off PumpkinPalooza 2012!

From noon to 7pm in Victorian Square, you’ll be able to:

• Build and race a pumpkin in the Pumpkin Derby
• Enjoy storytelling in the haunted schoolhouse
• Get your fortune read on the ghost train
• Compete in the pie-eating, pumpkin seed spitting, and mummy wrapping contests
• Enter your pumpkin in the beauty contest
• Show off your Halloween finery in the costume parade
• Watch professional pumpkin carvers
• Enjoy live music and carnival games
• Finish your day with the official Lighting of the Pumpkins!

This inaugural event is sure to become one of Northern Nevada’s mainstays! And it’s all benefiting the Northern Nevada Center for Independent Living!
