Seems that Hasbro decided a change was in order. They set up a “Save Your Token” contest, where fans could vote for the silver piece they wished to keep around. The Scottie Dog was far and away the fan favorite, but the poor little Iron received the least amount of rescuing votes.

 In place of the Iron, fans had a few choices of new shiny pieces that could make their way past “Go!”, including a robot, a helicopter, a guitar, a diamond ring and the sole victor – the Cat!

 At first, I was saddened at the loss of the easiest piece to move around the board. But then I remembered, I only play the Lord of the Rings edition of Monopoly…so it’s all good!   

 Besides, the Cat will pair well with the Scottie Dog, and who likes ironing anyways! I’m sure the Monopoly sets that currently reside on store shelves will sell like hot cakes (or rather like Twinkies!)
