Four Reasons Companies Hire Veterans
11/12/2012

Veterans Day was yesterday, and "Forbes" magazine had an article on why companies like to hire veterans when they come home. The last of the 33,000 surge troops left Afghanistan in September. And in the next few years, over a MILLION more service members will be transitioning back to civilian life.
Here are four reasons they'll be hard to compete with in the job market.
#1.) They're Good Leaders, and They're Team-Oriented. Meaning, they know how to GIVE orders when necessary, but they also know how to TAKE orders without an argument.
#2.) They're Good Under Pressure. Obviously, if they can stay calm in a WARZONE, they'll probably be able to handle day-to-day deadlines in an office.
#3.) They Worry About Performance and Results. In other words, they know how to get things done. And unlike most of us, they don't do 'just' enough to get by.
#4.) They Communicate and Set Goals. Good leaders have to be able to set goals for the team, then communicate well with them so they can ACCOMPLISH those goals.
