The Smartest Thing You Can Do After a Job Interview is Send a Thank-You Note
11/14/2012

It's a pretty AGONIZING period between a job interview and waiting to hear whether or not you're getting hired. But there actually is SOMETHING you can do to help your chances after the interview. It's kinda old-fashioned, but it works.
According to a new survey by the job website The Ladders, 76% of interviewers say that receiving a THANK-YOU NOTE influences their decision. And only 11% say it has no impact.
Back in the day, you had to actually write out a thank-you note and mail it. But you don't have to do that today. 85% of people say an email thank-you note is good, and might actually be BETTER because it's quicker.
Interviewers say the best notes are the ones that come within 24 hours of the interview. And also, send a thank-you note to EVERYONE you meet. Individually. And make sure the emails are all customized and different.
