A Woman Won a Contest to Design a $500,000 Dog Park

11/21/2012

Angela Bauman of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and her German shorthaired pointer Beau won a contest sponsored by Beneful dog food.  (Her age wasn't given.  Lancaster is 80 miles west of Philadelphia.)  Angela gets $10,000 cash, and Beau gets a year's supply of dog food.  But that's not the really big prize.

In order to win the contest, Angela had to design a "dream dog park", with a budget of $500,000.  And since her design won the contest, Beneful is going to pay the half million dollars to BUILD it in Lancaster.

Angela said she was inspired by Hershey Park, which is an amusement park in Pennsylvania.  There is a "roller coaster" area.  But it's just a bunch of hills and bridges for the dogs to run on, not an actual dog roller coaster.   There's also a water park, with pads in the water for the dogs to jump onto.  And there's going to be an indoor area for dogs to use when it's raining.
