Six Tips to Get Your Online Dating Profile Ready for the New Year
1/11/2013
According to studies, the beginning of January is the busiest time of the year for online dating. So if you've been reluctant to join a site, or you already HAVE a profile but aren't getting results, here are six tips on how to get your online dating profile ready for the New Year.

#1.) Be Upfront. Be upfront from the start about what you're looking for, whether it's casual dating, a long-term relationship, or just hooking-up.

#2.) Be Specific. Instead of writing that you like "traveling," talk about the time you backpacked through Europe or went on an African safari. The more specific you are, the more you'll stand out from the crowd.

#3.) Stick To One Site. There are a TON of dating sites to choose from, for every interest under the sun. But signing up for a bunch of them at once will get overwhelming and confusing. So pick the one that seems best for you and give it three months. If you aren't having any luck by then, move on to the next site.

#4.) Double-Check Your Spelling. There's nothing sexy about spelling or grammar mistakes on your dating profile, so give it a good read-through before it goes live.

#5.) Don't Lie. Lying on the Internet is about as common as TAYLOR SWIFT and obnoxious breakup songs. (So common that MTV made a TV series about it.) But that doesn't mean YOU should do it. So no lying about your weight, your job, or anything else. The truth will have to come out eventually, and that's going to be AWKWARD.

#6.) Add More Photos. Let's be honest: Before most people even READ anything in your profile, they're going to look at your pictures. And in most cases, it's going to be what determines whether or not you get a response. So pick at least three RECENT and GOOD pictures, ones that show you doing things you like, or out having fun. And always include at LEAST one full-body shot.
