A Guy Left His Car in the Airport Parking Lot, Because Doves Had Made a Nest on His Car Window
2/25/2013

Trevor Maltby of Cairns, Australia came back from a six-day business trip last Tuesday, but he couldn't go home right away. (Cairns is 1500 miles north of Sydney.) Because while he was gone, a DOVE had built a nest on his car windshield wiper and laid eggs in it, right there in the airport parking lot.
Instead of moving the nest like some of us might have done, Trevor called wildlife officials and spent an HOUR on the phone with them, trying to figure out what to do. They suggested that Trevor could LEAVE his car in the airport parking lot until the eggs hatched, and Trevor said okay. Instead of disturbing the mother dove's nest, he rode home with a friend.
Wildlife officials eventually decided that the airport long-term parking lot may not be the best place to raise baby doves, so they sent someone to get the eggs. They're in an incubator waiting to hatch now, and Trevor has his car back.
