If You Don't Negotiate Your Starting Salary, It Can Cost You $600,000 During Your Career
2/26/2013

If you're looking for a new job, here's something CRUCIAL for you to remember. Once you DO get one, negotiate like crazy to get a good starting salary. Don't worry about the awkwardness, it's worth it. According to a new study, THE key to making money at your job is your starting salary.
At most jobs, all your raises are going to be based on a percentage of your salary, even after promotions. So that starting salary really dictates everything. Researchers found that if you get offered $50,000-a-year and manage to negotiate that up to $55,000, it will be worth more than $600,000 to you over the course of a 40-year career.
