Which Retail Chains Have The Best Employee Discount?

2/26/2013

Working retail is tough, and the pay isn't spectacular. But at least you have the perk of an employee discount. Which lets you give your paycheck RIGHT BACK to your employer.  Companies generally try to keep their employee discounts private, but that's not really possible in the Internet age. Here are the five best and five worst retail employee discounts, according to information online.

The Best:

#1.) American Apparel. 50% off everything, plus a $200 stipend when you start.

#2.) Best Buy. Wholesale cost of an item, plus 5%.

#3.) J Crew. 50% off five items a month, and 30% off anything after that.

#4.) Apple. 25% off computers, and either $250 off an iPad or $500 off a Mac, once every three years.

#5.) Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy. Between 30% to 50% off, depending on how much you buy.

The Worst:

#1.) Home Depot. No discount. BRUTAL.

#2.) Walmart. 10%off, but no food, cigarettes, or sale items.

#3.) RadioShack. 30% off RadioShack branded stuff, 10% off everything else.

#4.) Bed, Bath & Beyond. 20%off. But they send 20% coupons to everyone in the country on a weekly basis, so getting 20% off doesn't really make you special.

#5.) Whole Foods. 20% off, unless you're skinny.   If your BMI is low and you don't smoke, your discount can jump up to 30%.
