You’ve heard “hacks” for cheap air travel. Maybe things like: Booking on a Tuesday, six weeks in advance, and flying on Saturdays. The idea seemed to be avoiding more “popular” times for booking and traveling.
But that might not be the case anymore.
According to a list of “key air hacks” on Expedia.com, Fridays are now the best day to book, and the best day to fly internationally. It’s about 8% cheaper than Sunday, which is the most expensive day.
Tuesday is the cheapest day to fly domestically, which also makes sense under the previous thinking, being a low volume day. In fact, Expedia says Tuesday is the LEAST busy day to fly. It’s also up to 14% cheaper than Sundays.
The cheapest MONTH to fly is August, with fares 29% cheaper than December.
Overall, February is the least busy month to fly, and July is the busiest. The slowest individual dates are February 25th, March 4th, and November 18th, while the peak dates are May 22nd, July 3rd, and August 29th.
