Five Random Facts for Wednesday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  There was a tradition in ancient Greek theater that character deaths almost never happened on stage.  No matter how important the characters were, deaths almost always occurred off-stage, and were announced by a messenger, with the body sometimes being shown later.

2.  The last time a third-party candidate got any electoral votes was in 1968.  George Wallace ran on a platform promoting segregation, and won five states, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.

3.  There’s a city called Rome on every continent besides Antarctica.  There are a few in the United States.  There’s also one in Ecuador, Australia, Indonesia, Lesotho, and of course Italy.

4.  “Bohemian Rhapsody” started the music video trend.  Queen made a promotional video for the song in 1975, and it was such a hit that record companies started making videos for all hit songs.

5.  The first missing child on a milk carton was 12-year-old John Gosch from West Des Moines, Iowa.  He went missing in 1982, he was on a milk carton in 1984, and sadly, he’s never been found.  He would be 54 today.
