Five Random Facts for Wednesday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  Aside from a brief bump in 2006, the teenage pregnancy rate in the U.S. has been continuously declining since 1991.  And as of the most recent data in 2023, teen birth rates are now at their lowest levels, ever.

2.  A pop music engineer named Chris Gehringer has the most Grammy nominations without a win, at 21.  Post Malone is tied for second with an Indian classical music conductor named Zubin Mehta.  They both have 18.  Snoop Dogg is fourth with 17 noms and no wins.

3.  George R.R. Martin has written all of the “Game of Thrones” books using a computer that’s at least 30 years old.  It doesn’t even have Windows on it, just the DOS operating system, and he uses the 1980s word processing program WordStar.

4.  There are at least twice as many kangaroos in Australia as people.  There are about 50 million kangaroos and 25 million people.

5.  Golfers who win The Masters get to keep their green jacket for a year, but then they have to return it.  It gets put in a closet, and then they can wear it whenever they visit from that point on.
