1. “Karate Kid Legends” (PG-13) Trailer
Ming Na Wen plays the niece of Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han, who’s been training her son (newcomer Ben Wang) in kung fu back in Beijing. When she moves them to New York, the kid falls for the ex-girlfriend of the local karate champion.
So Mr. Han recruits Ralph Macchio’s Daniel-san to give the kid enough karate skills to compete in the city tournament. Oh, and along the way, the kid also helps his new girlfriend’s dad (Joshua Jackson) train for his boxing comeback.
2. “Bring Her Back” (R) Trailer
A horror film starring Sally Hawkins from “The Shape of Water” as a creepy foster mother who takes in two teenagers (Billy Barrat and Sora Wong) and they discover that she wants them for a dark ritual intended to bring her dead daughter back to life.
3. “The Phoenician Scheme” (PG-13) Trailer (Limited)
Benicio Del Toro plays an international businessman who survives an assassination attempt and decides to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Mia Threapleton, to bring her into his shady family business, despite the fact that she is living as a nun.
It’s directed by Wes Anderson and the rest of the cast includes Michael Cera, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
4. “Tornado” (R) Trailer (Limited)
A samurai western about a girl plotting revenge against the gang that attacked her family’s Japanese puppet show and killed her father. Tim Roth is the leader of the gang, Jack Lowden plays his son, and Japanese model Koki is Tornado.
5. “Peppa Meets the Baby Cinema Experience” (G) Trailer (Limited)
This is an hour-long special to celebrate the birth of Peppa Pig’s baby sister Evie, who will be joining the cast of “Peppa Pig” when the show returns in the fall. My condolences to anyone who is forced to suffer through this nonsense in a theater.
