Fascinating crimes like THIS may become a thing of the past, now that people are holding onto less physical cash, especially change.
Police in Nebraska are searching for the thieves who stole a person’s vacation fund from their home last week.
One of them entered through the back door, and allegedly stole $200 worth of cash from a dresser, along with $3,000 IN QUARTERS, which were being saved to pay for a vacation. That’s a LOT of quarters: $3,000 is 12,000 of them.
A security camera captured two people and a dog in a gray Scion tC, leaving from an alley behind the home. The other thief was apparently just the getaway driver. It’s unclear what role the dog played, if any. (???)
The thieves MIGHT have known that the victim was hoarding quarters, because the guy who entered the house successfully deactivated some security cameras first. (And THIS is why you always keep your vacation fund in PENNIES. 12,000 quarters is 300,000 pennies!)
