The next time you’re in the market for some cheap Swedish furniture, you might be shopping for it at an electronics store. (???)
IKEA is opening a bunch of mini IKEA stores inside Best Buy locations. The first 10 will pop up at Best Buys in Florida and Texas this fall.
Each mini IKEA will be around 1,000 square feet and feature cabinets and other storage solutions for your kitchen and laundry room.
They’re hoping people shopping for fridges or washer-dryers will see the IKEA stuff and decide their space needs a redesign as well. Two of the Best Buys will also let people have any IKEA product shipped there for pick-up.
IKEA hasn’t said if they plan to open more mini locations in other states. But there are only 52 IKEAs in the U.S., and over a thousand Best Buys. So a widescale rollout would put their products in front of a lot more eyeballs.
Meaning that in the not-too-distant future, you might turn to your spouse and say, “We need something from IKEA. Let’s go to Best Buy.”
