These Two Paint Colors Crush Your Car’s Resale Value

Would you factor this in if you were buying a new car?

Someone looked at the resale value of different cars after five years.  And the two colors that kill your car’s value the most are BLACK and BLUE.

Blue cars depreciate the most, losing an average of 27% of their value in the first five years.  Black cars are next at 23%.

It’s not clear why we’re willing to pay less for those two colors, but maybe this has something to do with it:  Kelly Blue Book says blue and black are two of the hardest colors to keep clean.

Dark-colored cars tend to look filthier, because it’s easier to see the dirt.  It’s actually harder to see the dirt on light-colored cars.

The study found the ones that retain their value the best are WHITE cars, losing just 18% of their value in the first five years.
