Some attempted “crimes” just NEED to be caught on camera, and thankfully this one was.
A 26-year-old man in Florida named Dean Young drove up and noticed a landscaping van parked along the street last week. He got out of his vehicle, ran up to it, and climbed in the back. And then he somehow got locked inside.
It sounds like the landscaper came back to lock the van before he started working. Dean realized he was trapped and FREAKED. He started screaming for help, banging on the doors, saying he couldn’t breathe.
Someone called the police, and they got the guy out. (The landscaper didn’t want to unlock the van until the police got there, because there were sharp tools inside, include machetes.)
Dean told the cops he wasn’t a thief, he was out handing out business cards, when a dog started chasing him. So he jumped into the van for safety.
But that didn’t fly, because a security camera caught the WHOLE THING, from him driving up and seeing the van, to the officers getting him out.
He was arrested for burglary and criminal mischief.
It’s unclear if Dean was trying to steal the WHOLE van, or just thought he could snag some of the tools and equipment.
The homeowner with the security camera said, “I think it’s funny. It’s a dumb crook. I guess now he’s watching the news and inside the jail.”
