Service Workers Are Revealing the Wildest Things They’ve Seen in People’s Homes

Have you ever needed to have a plumber come inside your house, and spent an hour frantically cleaning while they were on their way?  Well, they’re not going to care about a little clutter.  They’ve seen worse.

There’s a place online where home service workers, like cleaners, repair technicians, health aides, and babysitters, are talking about the “wildest things” they’ve seen in people’s houses.  And here are some highlights:

1.  “I was an EMT.  We went on a call, and this apartment was filthy.  They had a rotten Christmas tree still there, with ornaments.  This was in May.”

2.  “I worked with a phone company.  One place was piled floor-to-ceiling with newspapers.  Another house had the carpet soaked in cat pee.”

3.  “There was an in-home garage sale, by a ‘soon-to-be-retired’ gang leader.  He was selling ‘normal’ things, like DVDs, and some gang-related stuff too.”

4.  “I used to install security systems.  I went into the unfinished basement, and it was five feet deep in garbage bags.  The owner was apparently too lazy to take it out to the curb 30 feet away.”

5.  “Cable tech installer here.  I opened a random door in a luxury high-rise condo, and there was a BDSM dungeon and a hooded ‘client’ tied down.”  (The homeowner assured him it was a totally consensual experience.)

6.  “Unsecured drugs and firearms, just sitting out on the table.”

7.  “The place was covered with roaches.  I don’t mean just a few, either.  The carpet looked like it was moving.”

8.  “No matter how nice the home, anytime we pulled a washer, dryer, or refrigerator out to work on it, the floor was nasty with spilled liquids, old socks, food, hair, and dirt.  Hardly anyone moves major appliances to clean the floor.”

9.  “I took a summer job insulating homes.  I saw a lot of ‘interesting’ things, but the worst was a family that kept numerous chickens in their house, and let them run free.  It was unbelievably disgusting.”
