Five Random Facts for Thursday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  In-N-Out Burger used to accept burgers of any size, by adding patties and slices of cheese at an additional cost, until 2004, when some punks ordered burgers with 100 patties and 100 slices of cheese.  The guys who did it said, “We were just idiots.  None of us had any background in competitive eating.”

Since then, management banned anything larger than a 4×4, four patties and four pieces of cheese.

2.  “Lb” is the abbreviation for pound because it comes from “Libra”, the zodiac sign that’s symbolized by scales.

3.  The top causes of death in the U.S. in 1900 were the flu and tuberculosis.  In 2024, the top two were heart disease and cancer.  Unintentional injuries was #3.

4.  Horses can’t throw up.  Their bodies aren’t built to do it.

5.  Minnesota has a law banning contests where people try to catch greased pigs or turkeys.
