Five Random Facts for Monday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  There’s a term called “orphaned negatives,” for words like disgruntled, nonchalant, and innocent, whose positive counterparts (gruntled, chalant, and nocent) have completely vanished from common usage.

2.   There have been 2,019 people elected to the U.S. Senate in history, and only 14 are Black.  10 were elected in the past two decades.  Nine are Democrats and one is Republican:  South Carolina’s Tim Scott.

3.  There are only 16 countries with more land area than Alaska.  And just as a reminder, Alaska is more than double the size of Texas.

4.  The San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park is home to two platypuses, and they’re the ONLY platypuses outside of Australia.

5.  The 20-sided die wasn’t invented for “Dungeons & Dragons”.  The oldest one ever found dates back more than 2,000 years.
