One Expert Thinks A.I. Will Reduce Workweeks to 3.5 Days

There’s been a lot of talk about A.I. putting people out of work, but what if that’s NOT unemployment, it’s just more days off?

One expert, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, said in an interview recently that he thinks artificial intelligence could reduce the average workweek from five days a week to 3.5.

So maybe you work Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and go in for a half-day on Thursday and then head off for a three-and-a-half day weekend.

This isn’t imminent though.  He said it could be “30 years from now.”  The implication would be that you’d still get a similar salary, but obviously, that sounds optimistic.

(So, 3.5 on the clock, and 3.5 off the clock . . . THAT’S some work-life balance I can get behind.)

(The interview was on CBS.  The A.I. part begins at the 10:04 mark.)
